I enjoy travelling, but I have yet to visit the Middle East. I do intend going one day, but in the meantime I’ll have to make do with looking at the information about this ancient area on Google Apps such as Travel Israel.
Travel Israel is, I understand, one of a number of Android applications available giving information about the country and its historic cities. For about £7, you get the chance to explore the culture and history all from the comfort of your armchair. If you are planning a trip to the country it will certainly prove invaluable.
Another useful app is one about Jerusalem itself. For about £1 it is a photographic description of that famous city. If you need a map of the religious buildings of the city, then another app is available.
With Israel constantly in the news, I’d be surprised if there wasn’t an app that kept you up to date on what is going on. The Jerusalem Post English Widget does just that.
While I will probably visit the area by cruise ship rather than a planned holiday, for those who prefer to stay in a hotel, there is now an app called Inbal Jerusalem Hotel. This gives a lot of information, including images about this particular hotel. It is also useful if you are looking for good restaurants, activities and attractions in Jerusalem.
Although many of the apps do have a theological feel about them, nevertheless, I believe they will still prove useful if you are a tourist.
