It’s said that good things come in small packages. If true then anyone who likes HTC smartphones may be interested in the HTC Explorer.
A mid range smartphone, the HTC Explorer may be a rather petite device, but it nevertheless is a nifty piece of craftsmanship, I understand. For example, it’s apparently a very sturdy gadget with a build quality that has been described as high quality, without any hint of the usual plastic tackiness so hated by experts and consumers alike.
Interestingly though, in a throwback to the earlier generation of mobile phones of 20 years ago, the back cover is interchangeable.
The overall design of the HTC Explorer has been criticised, however, as being rather standard and perhaps a little old fashioned; it’s a traditional candy bar. However, for a small phone, I’m not sure what else the designers could have come up with. Consequently, if its shape is the best criticism that can be applied to the device, I think that is rather good.
That said, the camera size is rather paltry at just 3.15 megapixels, which as expected, produces rather poor quality pictures.
However, other than this the Explorer packs a lot into its little size with a 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen. Touch sensitivity has also been described as very good, while the 320×480 pixel resolution provides a pixel density of 180 pixels-per-inch.
Other features are GPS and FM Radio, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Hotspot creation. So, if you are out and about playing with your Google Apps this nifty feature will be a boon.
Overall, I think this is an excellent device.
