The benefits of being a reseller

It is well known what benefits are available from using Google Apps, but if you run a business, particularly one with a technical background, then have you ever thought of being a Google reseller?  I know I would if my business involved IT.

So, what are the benefits of being a Google reseller?

Before getting onto that, perhaps it is useful to describe briefly what the Google reseller programme is.  Basically it is a scheme to get Google Apps into businesses and organisations.  In return the reseller receives commission and probably other rewards in return.  Comprehensive training is part of the package offered.

So, while you might think thousands of Google sales people are traversing the globe trying to persuade other businesses, it is actually its partners that contact other companies within their own locale on Google’s behalf.

The benefits of becoming an authorised reseller depend on the level you join.  It is also not just a matter of signing up and away you go, businesses must meet certain criteria.

From what I understand there are two joining levels or tracks, but oddly enough, any business can join one or both, although Google itself does not recommend this.

Benefits include reseller discount and free or discounted elearning.  Paper manuals are not used simply because Google is a cloud-based infrastructure, so this saves on trees.

Other benefits are the chance to sell a company’s own apps on the Google Marketplace, use of Google marketing initiatives such as online marketing collateral and tools, and perhaps the most important – knowledge and best practice sharing.

Well worth thinking about.
