A German-based company recently announced a new training and certification programme, which it hopes will spread across Europe.
The idea behind this, I believe, is to increase education, salesmanship and computing skills of IaaS cloud computing, which is perceived by many businesses and organisations alike as the future. IaaS refers to the infrastructure used in cloud by firms such as Google and IBM.
The company behind this new programme is Magirus, a leading European IT service provider.
Speaking with channelemea.com, Simon Rutt, Services & Solutions director at Trustmarque said: “The Magirus Cloud training is what the channel needs as it provides free of charge, high-value practical consultancy skills to help channel partners advise customers on cloud computing adoption. Significantly, it accelerates the development of annuity-based services models with flexible payment options for customers.”
The new training system entitled Magirus Cloud Foundations, which, I believe, has been created in partnership with Colt Technology Services, will be available free of charge to all Magnus business partners.
The training will be classroom-based and will introduce the basic concepts of IaaS to those in attendance. However, I believe a web-based training programme could also be used for those unable to attend in person.
It is also hoped once attendees have passed and certified the training module they will feel more confident in selling IaaS to other businesses.
Delegates taking part in the module will have to take an examination before being certified. Magirus resellers will then be given a kite mark, evidence to other businesses that they are qualified to retail their products.
