From little acorns

The old adage from little acorns grow mighty oaks is a very apt saying for one Google app creator.

Appsbar created a free app builder that has become one of the most popular programs in the world.  So much so that the number of downloads grew from 100 to over 100,000 in just one year of beta testing.

“We want to give people the power to build and create to empower people to use and enjoy this easy tool,” said Appsbar founder and CEO Scott Hirsch, when speaking with bostonherald.com.

The application apparently allows users to create mobile apps for both Apple’s iOS platform and Google’s Android operating system.

However, from what I gather the company doesn’t want to stop there.  Instead it wants to be able to offer something on all platforms.  I assume this may also relate to integrating with Google’s cloud infrastructure as well as computer and mobile platforms.

Since the company started in 2009 Appsbar has also managed to become the number one provider for applications on Google Play.

Yet, the app itself remains free to download and use, which begs the question how on earth does the company make money?  Particularly since it allows app creators that use the product to set their own prices for their creations.

“We don’t want to become Big Brother,” Hirsch said: “We want to leave the power in the hands of our members and let them make their own decisions.  We act as a tool and a coach along the way.”

Recent research also found that around 25,000 businesses are using Appsbar creations for their sales and marketing.
