An Australian design business has found that switching to Google Apps for Business has offered tremendous benefits including reduction of time wastage. The latter was something perceived by Altium Ltd. as very important.
Based in Sydney, the firm provides engineers with cutting edge holistic design solutions. However, with 15 offices spread around the globe, management have found it increasingly difficult to maintain proper control.
What’s more, with ever rising costs, the company had to look for ways to reduce this, so Google Apps was deemed the best solution all round.
For example, one of the main advantages of using Gmail rather than other email providers is the ability to filter SPAM more easily. In fact, this is automatically filtered by Gmail itself rather than having to constantly check and delete manually.
Referring to the previous email system used by employees at Altium, Alan Perkins, Altium’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) Google.com said: “Some senior employees were spending countless hours cleaning up their inboxes.”
Furthermore, the system was very restrictive, preventing collaboration both within an office and between the global offices. As Google Apps for Business is a cloud-based system, everyone is able to work much closer together even if they are thousands of miles away.
Moreover, this collaboration can continue without even being in an office. Alan Perkins added: “Now people easily use their mobile devices to securely access email and documents and also have the ability to access email and more from home.”
All in all, Altium, like a growing number of businesses, find switching to Google has helped; not least by improving productivity.
