The diversity of firms that now use Google Apps for Business is amazing. One firm that decided it could benefit by switching away from its original IT systems is BI-LO, a US-based grocery chain.
BI-LO is celebrating its 50th anniversary very soon, so it is apt that it should mark this celebration by being able to show it is still growing. I believe the company puts this growth firmly down to the move to Google.
Speaking with googleenterprise.blogspot.co.uk, BI-LO’s CIO Carol Blewitt said: “…We are a grocery retail chain with over 200 stores in the Southeast and have more than 4,500 teammates who utilise email in our corporate offices, retail locations, and on the road…but when it came time to upgrade we evaluated our evolving needs and what we would need to grow our business in the future. While cost was an initial priority, we quickly realized that collaboration was even more critical to our success.”
The key word here, I think, is collaboration. Every business that switches to Google Apps appears to do so because of the strong collaborative approach that Google’s cloud service offers.
I have to agree. Even someone like me who runs a one man band at times needs to collaborate on projects with others. Using Google’s integrated software enables me to do this easily without hassle.
While there may be other service providers out there that can offer this, I don’t think they can do it to the same high standard (or as cheaply) as Google.
